The Day From Hell

Tuesday, 12 May 2009 13:54 by hagermanr

It has been a long day. I was online at 5:30am writing code, met with Microsoft at 1pm and off at 3pm. I have a website that is due real soon (it’s actually late) and the Exchange folks need help with the monitoring of their servers. I’ve also been hit up by the SharePoint folks for their monitoring.

As soon as I got off work, I had to head up to the apartments. The family in unit 1 complained a few times that the hot water heater isn’t heating water like it should so I had to help replace that.

It should have been a simple task. Shut off the water, kill the power, unhook everything and pull the tank out, put in the new tank, hook it all up and turn everything back on. One, maybe even two hours tops.

The new tank was too big. Now we get to move a water pipe. Get out the drywall saw and cut a two foot by 4 inch hole in the wall, cut the pipe that is sticking out of the wall and put an elbow on it. run 12 inches of copper up the outside of the wall and solder another elbow on it, patch the big hole in the wall, and now we can connect the pipe to the top of the new, bigger hot water heater.

Four trips to Ace hardware because we can’t seem to get all the right parts the first time. a dozen trips up the stairs to unit four where we store all our tools, etc. 800mg of Ibuprofen and I walk in the door at 9:30pm for a pork chop and bed… I’m still hungry but too tired to do anything about it so I’ll take another 800mg of Ibuprofen, my Lipitor and Prilosec and go to bed!
